Six members of Martha Washington Questers 1032 met Sept. 26, at the home of Linda Newlon. The meeting was opened with the Questers invocation. Minutes and the treasurer's reports were given and approved. It was announced that Area Day was scheduled for Sept. 27, in Keokuk.
Linda shared pictures of the Questers' window display in Adellya's for the Washington 175th anniversary. The picture shows a manikin of Martha Washington pouring tea. The picture will be given to the historian for the scrapbook.
Linda presented a bill for $49.50 for the new yearbooks. In new business, Linda announced the Questers is being asked to decorate a Christmas tree for Conger House. The group will ask for the tree in the dining room and find out a theme later.
The program was Show and Tell. Pat Johnson shared a beautiful green bowl and wondered about the type of glass and its name. She also had some interesting photos of her trip to Nashville, Tenn., where she went to visit the American Pickers. They have a huge warehouse there and many people were lined up to see the antiques. As in their Le Claire, Iowa, shop, they also have the name of Antique Archaeology.Jane Fehr shared some stories of her grandfather's paint and wallpaper business in the 1920s. Linda showed an antique egg weight measure that no one had ever seen before.
Refreshments were served by Gerry Schmidt. The next meeting will be Oct. 24, at Janet Petersen's house.
