Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration rescheduled for Feb. 3 in Des Moines
DES MOINES ? Due to the icy weather, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration originally scheduled for Jan. 16 will now be Feb. 3.
The celebration, with the theme ?Iowans: Allowing Freedom to Ring,? will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wallace State Office Building in Des Moines.

DES MOINES ? Due to the icy weather, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration originally scheduled for Jan. 16 will now be Feb. 3.
The celebration, with the theme ?Iowans: Allowing Freedom to Ring,? will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wallace State Office Building in Des Moines.
The annual state of Iowa celebration honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is hosted by the Iowa Department of Human Rights? Office on the Status of African-Americans.
During the event, City of Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Commission Director Joshua V. Barr will offer the keynote speech. Winning students of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Call 2 Serve Contest will receive awards, and Alfreda Emery of Des Moines and Police Chief Mark Prosser of Storm Lake will be recognized for individual achievement.
Coffee and refreshments will be served.
The event is free and open to the public.
