Marvin and Pat McClure to celebrate 70th anniversary

Marvin McClure and Patricia Peiffer of Washington were married on Sept. 1, 1953 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa, and this year they are celebrating 70 years of matrimony.

Rev. R.J. Kinnavey officiated the double ring ceremony.

To celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary, the couple will hold an open house from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3, at St. James Catholic Church Tobin Hall in Washington.

The event will be hosted by their children. The couple’s children include: Gary (deceased), and wife Linda McClure of Grimes; Sue (Steve) Norman of Washington; Jane (Ron) Janecek of Washington; and Judy (Alan) Wery of Ely.

Marvin and Pat have 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The couple requests no gifts, just your presence.
