Tracy Edens gave the program on Longwood Gardens located at Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. She gave a brief history of how it was started and gave year-by-year improvements and the people who were instrumental in the growth of the gardens. Longwood Gardens is one of the world?s premier horticultural display gardens. While strolling the many paths through the exquisitely maintained grounds it is easy to imagine you are at a giant, royal garden in Europe. The gardens boast 1,077 acres, indoors and out, ranging from formal gardens to children?s gardens, from towering fountains to an expansive Meadow. Edens shared pictures from her family's visit to the gardens.
The next meeting will be the annual potluck on Nov. 24, at 6 p.m. at the Extension Office. For more information on the Master Gardener program please contact the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
