Mayme J. Luke, 86, of New London passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Cremation has been entrusted to Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Oakland Mills Cemetery. Mayme was born on December 9, 1930, in Farmington, the daughter of John William and Grace Hutton Savage.  She was united in marriage to Elmer Luke on October 26, 1953 in Fairfield; he preceded her in death on April 10, 1993. Mayme had worked for Cargill Seed of Mt. Pleasant for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, going to yard sales and word puzzle books.

She is survived by her children: Noble Luke of Iowa City, Orville Luke of Ft. Madison and Mary Patton of New London; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Savage of Davenport.

Mayme was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Beverly Leu; and many brothers and sisters.
