Fairfield congregate meals
Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Community Center.
The menu for the coming week is:
Monday - roast pork loin in gravy, baked potato with sour cream, sautéed zucchini, strawberries.
Tuesday - braised liver and onions, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, green beans, banana. Dine-in alternate: beef patty.
Wednesday - baked chicken, mashed potatoes, poultry gravy, broccoli-cauliflower-raisin salad, ice cream.
Thursday - beef shepherd's pie, mixed green lettuce salad with dressing, corn, lemon bar.
Friday - chili with beans, Confetti Coleslaw, corn muffin, orange wedges, yogurt. Dine-in alternate: potato-crusted fish fillet.
Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.
Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. Reservations can be made either at the community center or by calling 472-4403.
For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.
Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.
Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Community Center.

Fairfield school meals
The Fairfield Community School District has announced the menu for the coming week.
Elementary schools:
Monday - breakfast: waffles with syrup. Lunch: breaded mozzarella sticks with marinara, savory carrots, peaches.
Tuesday - breakfast: biscuit and jelly. Lunch: pork tenderloin on a bun, green beans, tomato slice, rosy applesauce.
Wednesday - breakfast: breakfast bar. Lunch: totchos, taco meat and cheese, Tater Tots, salsa, tortilla chips, fresh fruit.
Thursday - breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: popcorn chicken, garlic toast, steamed broccoli, cucumber slices, fresh fruit.
Friday - breakfast: long john. Lunch: egg and cheese omelet, cinnamon roll, tri tator, carrot sticks, cinnamon apple slices.
Milk, juice and fruit are served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.
Middle school:
Monday - breakfast: Grab-and-Go. Lunch: breaded mozzarella sticks with marinara or corn dog, savory carrots, peaches.
Tuesday - breakfast: Grab-and-Go. Lunch: pork tenderloin on a bun or crispy fish patty on a bun, green beans, rosy applesauce.
Wednesday - breakfast: Grab-and-Go. Lunch: totchos with taco meat and cheese or totchos with fajita chicken and cheese, Tater Tots, tortilla chips, fresh fruit.
Thursday - breakfast: Grab-and-Go. Lunch: popcorn chicken with garlic toast or Uncrustable PBJ, steamed broccoli, fresh fruit.
Friday - breakfast: Grab-and-Go. Lunch: egg and cheese omelet or egg and sausage patty, cinnamon roll, tri tator, carrot sticks, cinnamon apple slices.
FMS is changing to a Grab-and-Go breakfast with Pop-Tarts, cereal, mini doughnuts, breakfast bars and other items available daily. Milk, juice and fruit are served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. A fresh garden bar, with fresh fruits and vegetables, is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.
High school:
Monday - breakfast: filled breakfast bar. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marinara or burrito with salsa, green beans, peaches.
Tuesday - breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: pulled pork on a bun or shredded beef on a bun, french fries, cinnamon apple slices.
Wednesday - breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: walking taco bar with choice of taco meat and cheese or chicken fajita meat and cheese, fiesta beans, mixed fruit.
Thursday - breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: chicken bacon flatbread or teriyaki chicken flatbread, honey-glazed carrots, fancy pears.
Friday - breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: chicken nuggets or Salisbury steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, strawberry cup, homemade roll.
Milk, juice, fruit and a choice of mini doughnuts, Pop Tarts, breakfast bar or breakfast bread is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. Offered daily for lunch is a choice of: fruit and yogurt parfait with granola, sub sandwich, specialty salad, nachos-to-go or Uncrustable PBJ. A fresh garden bar, with romaine salad with a choice of dressings, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, is available for lunch.
