Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals
Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.
The menu for the coming week is:
Monday - roast beef, brown gravy, oven-browned potatoes, lima beans with corn, mandarin oranges.
Tuesday - cream of potato soup, saltine crackers, tuna salad sandwich, Tomato Spoon Salad, banana.
Wednesday - beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, Harvard beets, orange wedges, assorted yogurt.
Thursday - Brunswick stew, tomatoes and cucumber, fresh apple, pineapple crisp.
Oct. 26 - potato-crusted fish fillet, lemon wedge, scalloped potatoes, crispy-creamy spinach, apricot halves.
Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.
Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.
For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.
Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.
Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.
Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals
The Fairfield Community School District has announced the menu for the coming week.
Elementary schools:
Monday - breakfast: breakfast bread. Lunch: pepperoni pizza, green beans, side salad with dressing, peaches.
Tuesday - breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: corn dog, savory carrots, celery sticks, applesauce.
Wednesday - breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: biscuit and gravy with sausage patties, tri-tater, baby carrots, fresh fruit.
Thursday - breakfast: sweet biscuit. Lunch: cheese quesadilla, corn, cucumber slices, fresh fruit.
Friday - breakfast: muffin with string cheesed. Lunch: pork tenderloin on a bun, baked beans, broccoli with dip, fancy pears.
Milk, juice and fruit is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.
Middle school:
Monday - breakfast: breakfast bread. Lunch: pepperoni pizza or cheese pizza, steamed broccoli, peaches.
Tuesday - breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: corn dog or chili cheese max wrap, savory carrots, applesauce.
Wednesday - breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: biscuit and gravy with sausage patties or egg and cheese biscuit, tri-tater, fresh fruit.
Thursday - breakfast: sweet biscuit. Lunch: cheese quesadilla or burrito, corn, fresh fruit.
Friday - breakfast: muffin with string cheesed. Lunch: pork tenderloin on a bun or crispy chicken patty on a bun, baked beans, broccoli with dip, fancy pears.
Milk, juice and fruit are served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. A fresh garden bar, with fresh fruits and vegetables, is served daily with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.
High school:
Monday - breakfast: muffin and string cheese. Lunch: breaded cheese sticks with marinara or corn dog, savory carrots, mixed fruit.
Tuesday - breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: beef fiestada or cheese quesadilla, fiesta beans, sidekick.
Wednesday - breakfast: filled crescent roll. Lunch: pasta bar with chicken alfredo or mac and cheese, steamed broccoli, garlic toast, rosy applesauce.
Thursday - breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: sloppy joe on a bun or barbecued chicken on a bun, green beans, peaches.
Friday - breakfast: French toast. Lunch: Salisbury steak or turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, strawberries and pears, homemade roll.
Milk, juice, fruit and a choice of mini doughnuts, Pop Tarts, breakfast bar or breakfast bread is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. Offered daily for lunch is a choice of: fruit and yogurt parfait with granola, sub sandwich, specialty salad, nachos-to-go or Uncrustable PBJ. A fresh garden bar, with romaine salad with a choice of dressings, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, is available for lunch.
