Fairfield congregate meals
Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Community Center.
The menu for the coming week is:
Monday - roast beef, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, cream-style corn, apricot halves.
Tuesday - breakfast casserole, baked sweet potato, stewed tomatoes, wheat English muffin, yogurt, orange juice.
Wednesday - chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, spinach with vinegar, peach-raisin sauce.
Thursday - meatloaf, baked potato with sour cream, broccoli cuts, banana.
Friday - cook's choice with dessert.
Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.
Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. Reservations can be made either at the community center or by calling 472-4403.
For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.
Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.
Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Community Center.

Fairfield school meals
The Fairfield Community School District has announced the menu for the coming week.
Elementary schools:
Monday - breakfast: Dutch waffle. Lunch: orange chicken, rice, steamed broccoli, celery sticks, rosy applesauce.
Tuesday - breakfast: sweet biscuit. Lunch: crispy chicken patty on a bun, peas, cucumber slices, pears.
Wednesday - breakfast: muffin with string cheese. Lunch: walking taco with taco meat, refried beans, lettuce and cheese, fresh fruit.
Thursday - breakfast: tornado. Lunch: cheese pizza, savory carrots, broccoli with dip, fresh fruit.
Friday - breakfast: long john. Lunch: pancakes, sausage patties, Tater Tots, baby carrots, strawberry cup.
Milk, juice and fruit is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.
Middle school:
Monday - Lunch: orange chicken or sweet chili Thai chicken, rice, steamed broccoli, rosy applesauce.
Tuesday - Lunch: crispy chicken patty on a bun or sloppy joe on a bun, peas, pears.
Wednesday - Lunch: walking taco with taco meat and cheese or walking taco with chicken and cheese, refried beans, fresh fruit.
Thursday - Lunch: cheese pizza or French bread pepperoni pizza, California blend vegetables, fresh fruit.
Friday - Lunch: pancakes or biscuit and gravy, sausage patties, Tater Tots, blueberries.
The 'Grab and Go” breakfast includes Pop-Tarts, cereal, mini doughnuts, bars, fruit, milk, juice and other items. A fresh garden bar, with fresh fruits and vegetables, and milk are served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.
High school:
Monday - breakfast: filled breakfast bar. Lunch: cheese quesadilla or chicken and cheese quesadilla, green beans, peaches.
Tuesday - breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: egg and cheese omelet or egg and sausage patties, cinnamon roll, tri taters, sidekick.
Wednesday - breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: Oriental bar with choice of orange chicken, teriyaki chicken or sweet chili Thai chicken, rice, steamed broccoli, rosy applesauce.
Thursday - breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: sloppy joe or BBQ chicken sandwich, baked beans, mixed fruit.
Friday - breakfast: breakfast wrap. Lunch: roasted chicken or Salisbury steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, homemade roll, mixed fruit.
Milk, juice, fruit and a choice of mini doughnuts, Pop-Tarts, breakfast bar or breakfast bread is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. Offered daily for lunch is a choice of: fruit and yogurt parfait with granola, sub sandwich, specialty salad, nachos-to-go or Uncrustable PBJ. A fresh garden bar, with romaine salad with a choice of dressings, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, is available for lunch.
