Fairfield congregate meals
Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Community Center.
The menu for the coming week is:
Monday - oven-fried chicken, garden blend rice, stewed tomatoes, apple crisp.
Tuesday - beef patty with mushrooms and onions, homemade mashed potatoes, baked spinach casserole, chocolate pudding.
Wednesday - roast turkey, gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans with onions, cheesecake, wheat roll.
Thursday - July Fourth. No meal served. Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals,
July 5 - barbecued pork on whole wheat bun, corn on the cob, creamy coleslaw, watermelon, ice cream bar.
Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.
Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. Reservations can be made either at the Fairfield Community Center or by calling 472-4403.
For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.
Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.
Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday **and Thursday** at the Fairfield Community Center.
Summer Food Program
The July menu for the Fairfield Community School District summer food program is:
Monday - pepperoni pizza, green beans, peaches, milk.
Tuesday - crispy chicken patty on a bun, corn, pears, milk.
Wednesday - walking taco, lettuce and cheese, Sidekick, milk.
Thursday - July Fourth. No meal served.
July 5 - corn dog, baked beans, applesauce, milk.
July 8 - bosco sticks, marinara, applesauce, milk.
July 9 - BBQ rib sub, green beans, raisels, milk.
July 10 - chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, fancy pears, milk.
July 11 - beef fiestada, corn, peaches, milk.
July 12 - Nacho Lil Bites, green beans, fresh fruit, milk.
July 15 - hot dog on a bun, baked beans, Sidekick, milk.
July 16 - cheesy Trojan bread, marinara, peaches, milk.
July 17 - orange chicken, rice, steamed broccoli, pineapple, milk.
July 18 - soft-shell taco, lettuce and cheese, applesauce, milk.
July 19 - pork tenderloin on a bun, corn, pears, milk.
July 22 - chili cheese Max Wrap, corn, pears, milk.
July 23 - cheese pizza, green beans, peaches, milk.
July 24 - popcorn chicken, cheesy potatoes, rosy applesauce, milk.
July 25 - RAGBRAI stop in Fairfield. No meal served.
July 26 - BBQ meatball sub, baked beans, raisels, milk.
Free meals are provided to all children ages 18 and younger on a first-come, first-served basis.
After the children have been served, adults can purchase a meal for $3.75 if food still is available.
Meals must be eaten at the program site.
Meals will be served through Aug. 9.
Breakfast also will be served July 15 through Aug. 9, Monday through Thursday from 8-8:30 a.m. only at Pence Elementary School.
Meals will be provided at the sites and times as follows:
' Fairfield Public Library - 11:15-11:45 a.m.
' North Bay Apartments, outside near the parking area - 11:15-11:45 a.m.
' Pence Elementary School, Lunch - 11:30 a.m. to noon.
' Roosevelt Community Recreation Center - 12:15-12:45 p.m.
' Lockridge Ball Field Shelter in Lockridge - 12:15-12:45 p.m.
