Michael L. Grieser

Michael L. Grieser 65, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at his home in Mt. Pleasant.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Great River Hospice in his memory. Following the memorial services the family will receive friends for a time of fellowship at the Calvary Baptist Church.

Grieser was born on Aug. 5, 1949, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., the son of Maurice Benjamin and Leila Sarah Yoder Grieser. He was a graduate of WACO High School in the class of 1967. He was united in marriage to LaVaughn English in June of 1971, in Trenton. They later divorced. On Oct. 23, 1979, he married Donna Kasper, in Jennings, Kan. They later divorced.

Over the years, Grieser was a farmer, rancher and chef. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Grieser is survived by five daughters, Kristine (Nick) Smith, of Champion, Neb.; Michelle (Kurt) Kirkland, of Vero Beach, Fla.; Rebecca (Carl) Chapman, of Nassau, N.Y.; Amy Grieser, of New London; and Sarah Mathews; one son, Andrew (Bethany) Grieser, of Dubuque; 16 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Robert (Leah) Grieser ,of Ames; Melvin Grieser, of Mt. Pleasant; and Dwight (Rhonda) Grieser, of Des Moines; and one sister, Janice (Marvin) Yaley, of Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Cynthia.
