Mid-Prairie FFA attends National FFA Convention

On Oct. 26, nine Mid-Prairie FFA members packed up and headed for Indianapolis, IN to take part in the National FFA Convention. Members who attended were: Lilly Boller, Tate Bombei, Brock Fisher, Kinzlee Kiefer, Destina Moyle, Cuyler Rourke, Madelyn Sieren, Harlee Westand Jason Yoder. Mid-Prairie FFA Advisor Elsa Schmidt was the chaperone for the trip.
On Wednesday, members spent time traveling to Indianapolis and at the FFA Career Expo and Shopping area.
On Thursday morning, members attended the Opening Session which highlighted the keynote speaker, A’ric Jackson. Mr. Jackson is a motivational speaker who challenged members to break out of their box, live an authentic life and live life at 110%. Members spent time visiting the Career Show and Expo, where they received information from colleges, ag businesses and other organizations associated with agriculture. Time was spent visiting the Indiana State Capitol where members spoke with Indiana House of Rep., Kendell Culp. Members then attended the 3rd General Session where the National FFA Central Region Vice President Mary Schrieber, gave her retiring address.
On Friday, Mid-Prairie FFA members toured the Ozark Fisheries in Martinsville, IN. The facility grows koi and goldfish to sell. Members also toured Poe Hampshire Farm in Franklin, IN. Members were able to learn about their sheep operations which included information about breeding, caring for and raising sheep. Members attending the Three Hill Rodeo at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the evening.
On Saturday, members visited the National FFA Center. Mid-Prairie FFA members then returned home.
