Jun. 20, 2021 4:33 pm
Several Mid-Prairie FFA members attended the FFA Southeast District Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference at Davis County on June 14.
Mid-Prairie FFA members who were in attendance were Braydon Younge, Kelyn Yoder, Payton Peck, Carmen Sieren, Brittany Kinsinger, Bridget Fisher, Rebekah Meader, Anna Nafziger, Jacey Sisson and Mose Yoder. They were supervised by Mid-Prairie FFA adviser Elsa Schmidt.
While at Davis County, district and state officers lead four interactive workshops for FFA chapter leaders, many of whom are officers, for the annual COLT Conference.
The workshops facilitated were local FFA chapter program-focused in the areas of advocating for the agricultural industry, connecting with stakeholders, recruiting for the local chapter and working as a cohesive team.
FFA leaders received training relative to their specific duties within the local chapter.
"COLT Conference provides a chance for FFA members to learn more about their responsibility as a local leaders and is a conference for members to meet and connect with state, district and other chapter officers,” Iowa FFA President Mia Gibson said.
Each year the Southeast District and the Iowa FFA officers plan and facilitate the COLT Conferences for FFA members in the Southeast District.
Bridget Fisher presented at the COLT Conference as a part of her duties as the Northwest Sub-District Vice President of the Southeast District.
