Mid-Prairie High School Speech Team competes at River Valley

Ten members of the Mid-Prairie Speech Team competed in the River Valley Conference Individual Events Speech Contest at Cascade High School on Monday, Feb. 20. All 15 of their events earned a Division I rating. At RVC Speech Contests, best in center recognition is awarded. Mid-Prairie earned eight best in center awards.
The students and their events are as follows, with best in center recognition listed:
Haydon Bailey - Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Acting. First place best in center for Solo Acting.
Jacob Carrillo - Solo Acting and Solo Improvisation. First place best in center for Solo Acting, and second place best in center for Solo Improv.
Jillian Clark - Solo Improvisation.
Kenadi Fay - Storytelling and After Dinner Speaking. Third place best in center for After Dinner Speaking.
Isadora Goode - Original Oratory.
Jack Greiner - Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Improvisation. Third place best in center for Solo Musical Theatre, and first place best in center for Solo Improvisation.
Logan McClellen - Storytelling.
Daniel Rodgers - Reviewing and Poetry. Second place best in center for both events.
Caroline Schrader - Solo Acting.
Avery Slaubaugh - Solo Musical Theatre.
Mid-Prairie Speech now has their sights on the upcoming Iowa High School Speech Association's District Individual Events Contest on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Mount Vernon High School. Students earning a Division 1 rating at district contest will advance to State Contest on Saturday, March 11. Mid-Prairie Speech Coaches are Christine Meader and Lisa Helmuth.
