'Emma! A Pop Musical” will be performed at the Mid-Prairie High School Auditorium Friday through Sunday, Nov. 1-3. The Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m., and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m.
Now, what is this musical about? Have you ever heard of that small run-of-the-mill movie 'Clueless?” Well Emma! A Pop Musical is a lot like that. To set the scene, it takes place in a high school - or prep school, whatever you want to call it.
Emma (Kyra Helmuth), a senior at Highbury Prep, claims she is the most stupendous matchmaker. During this musical you follow her journey to set all her friends up, but what about herself? Who does she like?
Along the way we meet Jeff Knightly (Cooper Thomas), a fellow student that apparently becomes a teacher and wants to say something that he's never said before. We meet Harriet (Essie Martin), a shy awkward student who wants to dance with somebody, to feel the heat with somebody!
Then there's Jane Fairfax (Emily Marner), a misunderstood girl who just left a boarding school, but she just likes to have fun! Oh, and we can't forget Philip Elton (Alex Burnam), one of the student council presidential candidates. Lastly, there's FRANKIE CHURCH - excuse me, Frankie Churchill (Ethan Bontrager)! A famous rocker that breaks everybody's hearts with his charming good looks.
Come see 'Emma! A Pop Musical” to see who ends up with who, and enjoy all of the different assortments of music! Adults are $10 and grade-school students are $5.
