Mid-Prairie sends three to Individual Speech All State
Saturday, March 14 the Mid-Prairie IHSSA Individual Events speech team competed at state contest at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. Saturday, March 14 the Mid-Prairie IHSSA Individual Events speech team competed at state contest at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. Twelve of the 15 entries received either straight ?1-1-1? or overall ?1? ratings. Monday the All State nominations were announced and three students, Ciana Carr, Melissa Murray and Kadidia Témé will be receiving All-State honors and performing at the IHSSA All State Festival Monday, March 30 at the University of Northern Iowa.
Ciana Carr is now a two-time All-State recipient and performer and will perform in Poetry with ?Look Up? by Gary Turk. Melissa Murray will perform in Acting with ?The Bird? by Don Zolidis. Kadidia Témé will perform her Expository Address ?Dance of Mali? and is the first Mid-Prairie exchange student to be nominated for All State honors.
Students who received ?1-1-1? ratings at State were: Ciana Carr (Poetry); Melissa Murray (Acting); Mali exchange student Kadidia Témé (two categories: Expository Address and Poetry); Hannah VanRoekel (Storytelling); Jessie Teets (Storytelling); and Ukraine exchange student Anastasiya Bondarenko (Expository Address). Students who received overall ?1? ratings were: Aleigha Gugel (Acting and Prose), Hannah VanRoekel (Prose), Rhett Leonard (Improvisation), Gina Waters (Storytelling).
