WELLMAN ? The Mid-Prairie High School Drama Department will present its spring musical, ?Annie Get Your Gun,? for three performances: at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26.
The cast of characters are: Annie Oakley-Haylee Marner; Frank Butler-Heath Schintler; Col. Buffalo Bill-Ben Stone; Dolly Tate-Jenna Hostetler; Winnie Tate-Jami TeBockhorst; Tommy Keeler-Isaiah Sents; Chief Sitting Bull-Andy Roberts; and Charlie Davenport-Josh Fox.
As the best shot around, Annie Oakley manages to support her little brother and sisters by selling the game she hunts. When she's discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill, he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West show. It only takes one glance for her to fall head over heels for dashing shooting ace Frank Butler, who headlines the show. She soon eclipses Butler as the main attraction which, while good for business, is bad for romance. Butler hightails it off to join a rival show, his bruised male ego leading the way, but is ultimately pitted against Annie in a final shootout. The rousing, sure-fire finale hits the mark every time in a testament to the power of female ingenuity.
With classic music by Irving Berlin including "There's No Business, Like Show Business," "You Can't Get A Man With A Gun," and "Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)," Annie Get Your Gun is an exciting story that will be sure to hit the bull?s eye with your family.
The Mid-Prairie spring musical is directed by Ross Schumaker with assistance from Heather Herschberger, Luetta Ropp, Collette McClellen, David Kunz, and many other wonderful volunteers.
