The Mid-Prairie volleyball team went the distance, but couldn?t overcome a late rally from Camanche in a match on Thursday night.
Despite taking a 2-1 set lead, Camanche came back and won a pair of tight sets to take the victory 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 10-15).
The loss comes after a tight three-set loss to the No. 2 ranked West Liberty Comets on Tuesday, and Mid-Prairie head coach Cindi Miller said the team seemed drained coming into this road match.
?After playing so well on Tuesday, I think we were on an adrenaline low,? Miller said. ?Tonight we started off slowly and our communication was poor. We just couldn?t get in sync soon enough to control the tempo of the match. I felt we were on the defense far too much.?
Freshman Jaedynn Evans led Mid-Prairie (6-7, 1-2 in River Valley Conference play) with 17 kills on the night, while senior hitter Jazmyne Jones added 12 of her own.
Ali Butters had six kills for the Hawks.
As a team, the Hawks finished the night converting 89 percent of their serves, led by Ashley Hentrich, who connected on all 23 of her attempts.
Jones was 22-for-24 on the night with three aces, while Emily Cayton was 21-for-23 with an ace.
Freshman Sami Miller had 34 assists for the Hawks, while Cayton led the team with 20 digs.
Evans finished the night with 18 digs, while Amanda Miller had 15 digs on the night.
Mid-Prairie will look to get a win on Tuesday when they travel to face Durant.
