An open house to celebrate Kathryn ?Katie? Mineart?s 90th birthday will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa.

An open house to celebrate Kathryn ?Katie? Mineart?s 90th birthday will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa.
Kathryn Wehr was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Portsmouth to Myrtle and Walter Wehr. Upon her mother?s death three days later, she was brought by train across Iowa in a snow storm to be raised by her father?s sister and brother-in-law Rose and Otto Fritz in Brighton. She attended school at Burr Oak and Brighton schools. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1939.
She married Leroy Mineart in 1941. They farmed in Brighton until their retirement. She has six children: Ed Mineart, Rosemary Pacha, Paul Mineart, Mike Mineart, Susan Seglie and Chris Turnipseed; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
