Child care providers will have an opportunity to attend a training presented by Iowa State University and Extension Nutrition and Wellness Specialist Rachel Wall. ?Move for Thought? will be held on May 14 at the Washington County Extension office from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Providers will receive two hours of DHS training credit.
The goals of the two-hour child care training are to increase the number of large motor activities that also target cognitive skills that providers can add to their curriculum. Providers will learn how to increase the number of large motor activities that also target cognitive skills they can incorporate during the routines of the day.
?Move for Thought? mini-stations will include: three transition activities, three large group activities, two small group activities, and two outdoor play activities.
Providers may register at the Iowa Child Care Provider Training Registry at https://ccmis.dhs.state.ia.us/TrainingRegistry/ The deadline to register is May 7. A fee will be charged. Submit the fee before the deadline to complete the enrollment.
