The free Movies in Central Park series, hosted by Fairfield First Fridays and Fairfield Park and Recreation Department, is returning May 17.
This year, the series will start in May and run through September, with shows at 8:30 p.m. on the third Friday each month.
Last year, the series ran June through October, but the weather did not cooperate for the last movie of the season, recalled Marla Brader of Fairfield First Fridays. She added that hopefully the date change, will prevent the colder temperatures in the fall from interfering with the movie nights.
The schedule is:
' May 17 with 'Coco,” which is the movie that was scheduled to conclude last year's series;
' June 21 with 'Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” with its Mr. Litwak character inspired by Fairfield's Walter Day;
' July 19 with the movie to be announced;
' Aug. 16 with the movie to be announced;
' Sept. 20 with the movie to be announced.
Brader said the titles of the movies for July, August and September will be released as soon as the film studios allow.
The film is projected onto a large, inflatable screen in the park. Those attending are asked to bring their blankets or lawn chairs.
