The Mt. Pleasant baseball team is still searching for their first win on the young season but the Panthers played a couple of nail-biters against top-knotch teams this week.
Mt. Pleasant fell, 3-2, to Iowa City Regina on Wednesday before dropping their home opener, 3-1, to North Scott on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Panthers had to come back after Regina scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Caleb Potts and Zach Beason each tallied an RBI in the top of the seventh and the Panthers took a 2-1 lead late.
Regina came back to win, however, tying the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with one run and winning it in the bottom of the ninth.
Mt. Pleasant nearly staged another late comeback on Thursday. North Scott scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the first and the Panthers cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Lancers added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, however, and the Panthers couldn?t come back to tie the game, falling to 0-4 to start the season.
