MP boys? golf team beats Fairfield at home

The Mt. Pleasant boys? golf team played in their final home meet on Thursday night against SEC rival Fairfield. The Panthers had one of their best meets of the year, defeating the Trojans, 162-170.
Jeff Cox had the best game of the group. He scored a 39, which was two strokes off of Fairfield?s Nick Higgins for first place overall.

The Mt. Pleasant boys? golf team played in their final home meet on Thursday night against SEC rival Fairfield. The Panthers had one of their best meets of the year, defeating the Trojans, 162-170.
Jeff Cox had the best game of the group. He scored a 39, which was two strokes off of Fairfield?s Nick Higgins for first place overall.
Trevor Mabeus was directly behind Cox, with a score of 40. Jacob Feldmann shot 41. Bailey Shelley and Trace White each shot a 42 and Riley Kempker rounded out the varsity scores with a 45.
The junior varsity team ousted the Trojans by five strokes, 199-204. Levi Parkevich had a great day, shooting 43. Jacob Moutrie shot 50. Tyler Robertson and Collin Baccam each scored 53. Grant Goody shot 54 and Jake Sheetz shot 62.
The Panthers also had five players golfing for their second junior varsity team. Gavin Christner shot a 45 to lead the way. Austin Buckert finished at 54. Nathan Zaragoza shot 63. Joe Staats scored a 65 and Evan Folker finished at 69.
Mt. Pleasant moved to 4-5 with the win and will be in action again on Saturday, April 23. The Panthers will compete at a tournament in Washington, which starts at 10 a.m.
