MP boys? track team rolls in Mediapolis

MEDIAPOLIS ? Six of the eight Henry County track and field teams were in Mediapolis on Tuesday night for the Dave Aamodt Relays.
The Mt. Pleasant boys had a great day, winning the meet with 196 points. The WACO boys were sixth, with 44 points, and the New London and Winfield-Mt. Union boys tied for seventh, with 20 points.

MEDIAPOLIS ? Six of the eight Henry County track and field teams were in Mediapolis on Tuesday night for the Dave Aamodt Relays.
The Mt. Pleasant boys had a great day, winning the meet with 196 points. The WACO boys were sixth, with 44 points, and the New London and Winfield-Mt. Union boys tied for seventh, with 20 points.
WACO and W-MU also competed in the girls? portion of the meet. The Warrior girls got seventh, with 42 points. The Wolves placed eighth, with eight points.
The Panther boys won nine events on the day, led by Cody Mertens and Jake Lowe, who won two races apiece.
Mertens swept the long distance races. He took the 3200-meter run, in 10:10.20. He also took the 1600-meter run, in 4:47.15, with teammate Kyle Vanderham placing second, in 4:48.90.
Lowe went one-two with WACO?s Cornell Hulme in both the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles. Lowe won the dash in 10.96 seconds, with Hulme right behind him, in 11 seconds.
Cole Burns won the 110-meter high hurdles for Mt. Pleasant, in 15.64 seconds. Chase Lamm was second in 16:06.
Zach Beason picked up a win for Mt. Pleasant in the discus throw. He hurled a 131-06.75.
The Panthers won three relays on the night. The shuttle hurdle team of Konnor Peterson, Chase Lamm, Beason and Burns won, in 1:02.23. WACO?s team of Beau Beckler, Jackson Roth, Colton Horak and Hulme finished second, in 1:02.39.
The Panther 4X800 team of Reece McNamee, Brody Bender, Dalton Moyle and Jacob Stukerjurgen won, in 8:54.60. The distance medley team of Jordan Magnani, Tate Shull, Brody McGhghy and Vanderham won, in 3:54.43.
The Panther boys had a handful of second place finishes as well. Stukerjurgen was second in the 800-meter hurdles, in 2:08.19, and Keegan Rich placed second in the long jump, with a 20-03.50.
Three Mt. Pleasant relay teams took second. The 4X100 team of Rich, Burns, Rylan Seberg and Brady Sartorius took second in 45.54 seconds. The 4X200 team of Lowe, Seberg, Sartorius and Beason got the silver, in 1:34.80, and the 4X400 team of Lamm, McGhghy, Seberg and Sartorius placed second in 3:40.57.
W-MU?s Bryce Robison won the 200-meter dash, in 23.14 seconds. Hulme finished second, in 23.40 seconds.
WACO picked up the best two results in the girls? competition. WACO?s 4X800 team of Laney Graber, Grace Conwell, Kasey Sutton and Miller won, in 11:19.23. Sutton also took second in the 100-meter dash, in 17.53 seconds.
