MP boys? track wins at Eddyville-Blakesburg

EDDYVILLE ? The Mt. Pleasant boys? track and field team was back in the winner?s column on Thursday night in Eddyville.

The Panthers won six events and scored 187 points to take the meet. Pekin was second with 136 points.

Mt. Pleasant won both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Keegan Rich won the 100-meter race in 11.54 seconds and Rylan Seberg took the 200-meter race in 23.88 seconds.

They also picked up a couple victories in distance events with Logan Murray taking the 1600-meter run in 4:28.00 and Cody Mertens taking the 3200-meter run in 10:13.82.

The shuttle hurdle team of Cole Burns, Konnor Peterson, Chase Lamm and Zach Beason took first in 1:01.38.

The Panthers took the top two spots in the long jump. Rich leaped a 21-00 to take first place and Brody McGhghy placed second with a 19-07.50.

Individual second places on the track for Mt. Pleasant included Murray in the 1600-meter run (4:39.90), Jacob Stukerjurgen in the 800-meter run (2:07.89) and Cole Burns in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.02 seconds).

Jonathan Ita also picked up a second-place finish in the high jump, with a leap of 5-10.

Two Panther relay teams took the silver. The 4X800 team of Adam Bodenham, Murray, Kyle Vanderham and Stukerjurgen placed second in 8:34.05, and the sprint medley team of Khang Truong, Burns, Tate Shull and Rylan Seberg was second in 1:39.48.

The Mt. Pleasant athletes who won?t be at the Drake Relays on Thursday, April 27, will compete in the Panthers? next scheduled meet at 4:30 p.m., in Grinnell.
