MP football players receive all-district and team awards

The Mt. Pleasant football team met for their 2015 banquet on Tuesday night at Mt. Pleasant High School. Eight Panthers were given their certificates for all-district nominations. Keegan Pullis, Cameron Keomanivong, Zac Ebeling and Pat Canby were named to the Class 3A District 5 all-district team, and Joe Hess, DShundric Foster, Tyler Davis and Cori Fitten were honorable mentions.

Coach Shawn Striegel also gave out his end of season awards. Canby was named MVP, Davis and Tanner Ruby were named Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Keegan Pullis was named Outstanding Lineman. Isaac Davis won the Panther award. Brock Wilson won the Brotherhood Award, and Keomanivong won the Sportsmanship Award. Hess won a 1000-yard club award by finishing with 1,651 total passing yards this season.

Davenport Assumption finished with the most all-district selections, with 19 players named to the team or named as honorable mention. A full list of Class A District 5 selections for each team can be found below.

Davenport Assumption all-district: Joe Argo, Daniel Tjaden, Ian McCandless, Will Ontiveros, Carter Kilfoy, Connor Lindamen, Elijah Williams, Chris Bridges and Caleb Wachel. Honorable mention: Mike Leabo, Nolan Melchert, Justin Wright, Brock Greiner, Travis Burns, Peter Grabow, Nate Campbell, Dominic Mirr, Sean Lansing and Burke.

Clear Creek-Amana all-district: Aaron Akers, Jared Eckrich, Ethan Taylor, Max Moore, Drake Brezine, Evan Downes and Ashton Carpenter. Honorable mention: Cory Siders, Drake Shores, Cole White, Tate Thompsen, Matt Brimeyer, Carter Hertel, Will Swenk and Colton Stecher.

Fairfield all-district: Alex Crile, Jordan Reid, Fejon Redd, Zach Martin, Michael Fritz and Cameron Baumann. Honorable mention: Brandon Smithburg, Chris Hanson, Gavin Stever, Drew Stever, Solomon Constant, Trenton Hannen and Jake Unkrich.

Ft. Madison all-district: Kameron Cooper, Clayton Woodley and Noah Pauley. Honorable mention: Austin Brune, Trent Wellendorf, Trent Hunter, Cruz Estrada, Jordan Hubbs, Brian Buckner, Braxton Williams, Braydon Gaylord and Adam Barnes.

Keokuk all-district: Damon Wolter, Noah Dunlap, Tyler Bitting, Cam Sadeghi and Kolton Marlin. Honorable mention: Donoan Lucido, Dylan Campbell, Connor Marlin, Gavin Thompason and Zach Meek.
