MP girls' golf team falls on road

FAIRFIELD ? The Mt. Pleasant girls? golf team began their 2017 season on Tuesday against SEC rival Fairfield in a matchup of state-qualifying teams from last season.
The Panthers fell in a tight one, 198-200, despite good results from Cali Liechty and Keri Herr, who shared medalist honors.

FAIRFIELD ? The Mt. Pleasant girls? golf team began their 2017 season on Tuesday against SEC rival Fairfield in a matchup of state-qualifying teams from last season.
The Panthers fell in a tight one, 198-200, despite good results from Cali Liechty and Keri Herr, who shared medalist honors.
Herr and Liechty both shot a 43 on the day, giving Mt. Pleasant a sweep in medalist and co-medalist honors.
Tori Witthoft and Chloe Beavers each shot a 57 on the day to roundout the Panther scorers. Anni Liechty shot a 58. Michal Wohlleber shot a 61, and Melody Miller finished with a 76.
Fairfield was led by Kylee Marlay, who shot a 46 for third place overall. Olivia Hammel shot a 49. Taylor Marlay and JoliAnne Swan finished at 51 and 52 respectively. Erica Olson shot a 67 and Megan Higgins rounded out the Trojan team with a 75.
The Panther girls fell to 0-1 on the year in duals. They?ll have a quick turnaround before heading to Elks Fairview Golf Course in Burlington on Thursday, April 6, for a tournament starting at 10:30 a.m
