MP girls run at Demon Indoors

MT. VERNON ? Indoor meet number two for the Mt. Pleasant girls? track and field team took place Thursday night. Sixteen Panthers competed in the Demon Indoors at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon.

MPCHS had six top-eight finishers on the day including two in the top three.

Grace Bittle had the best result of the day for Mt. Pleasant. Bittle threw a 35-01 in the shot put competition for second place.

Also in the shot put, Bailey Johnson placed eighth, with a 33-04. Lexie Magnani was ninth, with a 32-09.

Abby Ryon had the second top three finish for Mt. Pleasant. Ryon finished third in the 1500-meter run, in 5:21.54.

The distance medley team of Jenna Hummell, Kirsten Smith, Kalynn Batey and Taylor Murray was sixth on the day, with a final time of 4:48.33.

Maggie Cristoforo came in sixth place in the 400-meter dash, with the time of 1:07.62. Maddie Williamson was a few seconds behind her with a 1:11.10, which was good enough for 15th.

The 4X800 team of Murray, Liz Perry, Maggie Jennings and Kendall Dascher finished in ninth place, in 11:14.83.

Williamson placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles, in 10.41 seconds. Serenity Keomanivong placed 17th, in 10.84 seconds.

Batey placed 10th in the 200-meter dash with a finishing time of 29.35 seconds, giving the Panthers another top-10 finish. Tuesday Krabill was 39th in that event, in 32.10 seconds.

Another top-15 finish for the Panthers came from the 4X400 team of Cristoforo, Jennings, Dascher and Perry. They ran the relay in 4:51.08, which was good enough for 12th overall.

The Mt. Pleasant girls will be back in action on Monday, March 13, at Iowa State University. That meet will begin at 3 p.m.
