MP girls take second at home relays

All four Henry County teams were in action on Tuedsay night in Mt. Pleasant. The hosting Panthers finished second in Class A with 108.50 points, falling only to Cedar Rapids Prairie, which won with a score of 119.50.

All four Henry County teams were in action on Tuedsay night in Mt. Pleasant. The hosting Panthers finished second in Class A with 108.50 points, falling only to Cedar Rapids Prairie, which won with a score of 119.50.
New London had a nice showing, scoring 86 points for third place in Class B. Winfield-Mt. Union scored 26 points in Class B and WACO scored 21. Danville won Class B with 95 points.
The Panther girls won seven events en route to their second-place finish. Maggie Cristoforo led the way with two individual wins. She took the Class A crown in the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape at 1:02.60, and took the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.78.
Mt. Pleasant went one-two in the 800-meter run. Taylor Murray won the event in 2:29.02, and Maggie Jennings finished right behind her in 2:30.03 for second.
Abby Ryon took the 3000-meter run in 10:47.12. Lexie Magnani threw 39-09.50 to win the shot put. The 4X800 team of Cristoforo, Cristina Carthey, Jennings and Murray won the 4X800 in 9:58.17 and the shuttle hurdle team of Maddie Williamson, Lamm, Kalynn Batey and Serenity Keomanivong took the third annual Dave Hutchcroft shuttle hurdle relay title with a time of 1:09.95.
New London won four events on the day in Class B. Carson McSorley took the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.68. Savannah Sutherland finished first in the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape in 1:06.68. Lexi Brown won the 1500-meter run in 5:23.71, and Jenna Hummell won the 100-meter dash in 13.40 seconds.
WACO picked up a victory in the Class B shuttle hurdle relay event. The squad of Molly McLaughlin, Grace Conwell, Laney Graber and Kiana Miller took the top spot with a time of 1:11.83.
New London added five second-place finishes to their day. The sprint medley team of Hummell, Peyton Jackson, Sutherland and McSorley took the silver in 1:54.44. Brown was second in the 3000, crossing in 11:36.27. Hummell took second in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 27.26 seconds.
The New London distance medley team of Sophie Lounsbury, Kara Krieger, Camryn Blint and Brown took second in 4:54.08. The 4X400 team of Jackson, Blint, Sutherland and McSorley crossed in second with a time of 4:20.94.
