MP girls? tennis team drops close one

The Mt. Pleasant girls? tennis team hosted West Burlington-Notre Dame on Thursday evening, where they suffered a close loss, by the score of 5-4.
The Panthers went 2-4 in singles matches. Top-ranked Aline Thiengmany won her match, 8-3 and Thuan Tran battled out a win in the No. 5 slot, 9-7.

The Mt. Pleasant girls? tennis team hosted West Burlington-Notre Dame on Thursday evening, where they suffered a close loss, by the score of 5-4.
The Panthers went 2-4 in singles matches. Top-ranked Aline Thiengmany won her match, 8-3 and Thuan Tran battled out a win in the No. 5 slot, 9-7.
Afton Enberg fell, 8-1, in the No. 2 slot. Megan Sutherland lost 8-0, in the No. 3 slot, No. 4 Kyle Sourwine was edged out 8-6 and Quin Whaley fell 8-4, in the sixth slot.
Mt. Pleasant picked up two wins in doubles competition. Thiengmany and Enberg were victorious, by the score of 8-5, in the first slot. Tran and Whaley picked up a win in the No. 3 doubles game, 9-8, winning the tiebreaker, 7-4.
The Panthers were unable to steal the win in the doubles games, however. The team of Sutherland and Sourwine fell in the No. 2 doubles slot, by the score of 8-5.
There were four junior varsity doubles matches played. The team of Lauren Stewart and Le Luu won their match, 4-2, as did the team of Cara Canby and Callie DePriest.
Aimee Keomanivong and Erin Zihlman lost their doubles match, 4-0. Hannah Hess and Shaleen Thiengmany fell, 4-2.
Mt. Pleasant moved to 1-1 overall with the loss. They will look to move to 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference on Thursday, April 7, when they visit Fairfield.
