MP seventh-grade football team defeats Keokuk to move to 1-1

The Mt. Pleasant seventh-grade football team moved to 1-1 on Tuesday night with an 8-6 win against Keokuk.

The Mt. Pleasant seventh-grade football team moved to 1-1 on Tuesday night with an 8-6 win against Keokuk.
Josh Mueller caught the Panthers? first touchdown pass of the season. Sam Jerrell added the two-point conversion, which turned out to be the difference in the contest.
Defensively the Panthers had three takeaways. Jerrel had two interceptions on the day, and Morgan VanNyhuis had one.
Coach Phil Kenney says Dylon Hagens, Dalton Church and Zaylen Hampton stood out defensively in the win.
The MPCMS seventh-grade boys were coming off of a 6-0 loss to Mediapolis last week. Hagans ran for 100 yards in the loss, and the Panther defense stayed strong all night.
Church had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the loss. Cooper Kelgord had an interception, and Levi Graber, Hagans, Tyler Simon and Trevor Wellington all stood out while accumulating tackles.
