The Mt. Pleasant wrestling team got over a big hump on Thursday night with an SEC win over Ft. Madison.
The Panthers topped the Bloodhounds as well as the Titans of West Hancock in their home triangular, defeating Ft. Madison 48-28, and West Hancock 63-18.
Mt. Pleasant won the last six matches against the Bloodhounds to take their second SEC win of the year. Corbin Broeker, James DeMeyer, Tyler Davis and Dalton Bass all had pins in the win.
?It?s definitely good anytime you come out and get a nice dual win over Ft. Madison,? said head coach Anthony Blint after the win. ?The kids wrestled well.?
Blint said a senior wrestler bumping up two weight classes helped the team score valuable points. Davis, who had been battling illness this week, was bumped up from 160 lbs. to 182 lbs.
?He gave up a lot of weight to wrestle at 182 lbs.,? Blint said. ?He?s a senior. He did a great job. He said ?coach we want to win this dual.??
Mt. Pleasant blasted West Hancock for their second win of the day. Avante Henley, Nate Wallace, Bass, Anthony Carrasco and Brayden Ackles all picked up pins over the Titans.
Ft. Madison also picked up a non-conference win over West Hancock. Full results of Mt. Pleasant?s two wins can be found below, with Mt. Pleasant?s wrestler listed first.

?There are all sorts of things (to work on) before break,? he said. ?We?re going to be working a lot on our feet and just working on the small things, so later in the year when it counts in February, they?ll be ready to go.?
The Panthers will be back in action at the Iowa City Regina tournament on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 9 a.m.
