Members of the Mt. Pleasant High School (MPHS) class of 1970 gathered in the Mt. Pleasant, Iowa area for a fun three-day weekend on Friday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025.
A Friday night gathering at the PressBox Grille and Bar on West Washington saw 36 nametag-wearing classmates plus 15 of their spouses/friends renew their friendships among good conversation and laughter.
Planned Saturday activities included tours of the two museums at Old Threshers, graciously arranged by Old Threshers CEO Terry McWilliams: a self-guided tour of both of the Heritage Museums as well as a tour of the Theatre Museum of Repertoire Americana lead by Grace who was a fountain of great information. Pat Ryan White of the Henry County Heritage Trust Museum at the Old Saunders School opened for the class in the afternoon. Three folks also played pickleball at the REC Center on East Monroe. Many classmates visited the Mt. Pleasant Public Library which was where they attended high school. Some visited the American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit which was displayed at the Veteran’s Hall.
For those who preferred, Brian Iles and his bus were hired to transport classmates to/from the Mt. Pleasant square to the Saturday night venue at the Hitching Post near West Point, Iowa. Theresa and Chuck Korschgen have created a casual yet classy events barn which was perfect for the reunion. 39 classmates and 15 of their friends/spouses attended this event. Classmate Marty Hoyer and his band “Whiskey Friends” performed. Delicious food was catered by Sonny’s Super Market in West Point. Classmate Brian Morris provided mouthwatering brisket along with Sterzings potato chips. Desserts were provided by Kim’s Confections of West Point with ice cream from Hinterland Dairy of Donnellson.
Sunday morning saw breakfast for 16 classmates plus 6 others at the Central Park Coffee Co. Café & Bakery on the Mt. Pleasant square which is on the ground floor of the historic Union Block Building.
