Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis names Workhorse of the Year
Jan. 17, 2022 2:46 pm
The Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club celebrated Christmas at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club. The members enjoyed the seasonal celebration with food, fun and fellowship. The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the winner of the Workhorse of the Year Award. This annual award is given to one member who has exemplified above and beyond the call of Kiwanis to volunteerism in the club. Due to COVID last year, two members were selected for this award.
Ryan Duffie was selected as the 2021 recipient of the award, as he led the club with two years of leadership, keeping the Kiwanis securely intact through the COVID crisis. Though the club did not meet regularly during part of the 2019-2020 year, Ryan helped bolster enthusiasm among the members to keep the Kiwanis spirit alive. His leadership continued through the 2020–2021 year. With a renewed vision for the children of Henry County, Kiwanis continues to thrive due to his dedication.
Mike Tometich has been a member of the Kiwanis Club for over thirty years. During that time, he has been involved in every project the club has taken on, including being president from 1995–1996. Mike has been quietly assisting on all projects of the club, never drawing attention to himself. His strength as a silent leader has brought him the respect of the members, who selected him for Workhorse of the Year for 2020.
