Ten Mt. Pleasant Scribblers attended the group?s annual Christmas dinner, which was held at Taso?s Steakhouse this year.
All who attended enjoyed a meal of their choosing, and lively conversation was heard around the table.
Following the meal, a brief business meeting was held. After the meeting adjourned, readings were shared.
One member reminded the group of the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor bombings. Waunita Hobbie was the only person attending who recollected that day. Students at her New London High School were gathered to hear the historic announcement made by President Franklin Roosevelt.
A poem inspired by the Super Moon written in the style of ?Twas the Night Before Christmas?, three more traditional Christmas letters, a response to a photo prompt, and a member?s resistance to Christmas letters were among the readings shared.
Hobbie entertained everyone with two journal entries from 1984. On Dec. 5, just following her hosting a Scribbler meeting, she described ?feeling quite content?.
There will be no meeting in January, but February is scheduled to meet at Marilyn Vincent?s home.
Those interested in becoming a member should contact a current member, or President Ann Porter at 319-385-2152.
