Mt. Pleasant Scribblers meet

Just a few Scribblers met at the Gathering Room, First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant, IA on Monday, May 15, 2023, while other members were traveling, recovering, moving, and otherwise occupied with urgent issues.

As the meeting commenced, Claudia Streeter hosted, serving on napkins printed with bright birds, butterflies and blooms. Sporting a beautiful yellow rose wrist corsage from Mother’s Day, Claudia shared Coronation biscuits, a tasty shortbread treat, from a purple tin embossed with gold lettering declaring “The Coronation of HM King Charles III”. Instead of reading a personal writing, Claudia then shared a humorous birthday card from a close friend.

Kathy Wiley read of her experiences from days in the classroom as a speech and language therapist, “You are What You Wear”. Young children commented on her pointed -toe black shoes as witchy and had fun noting other wardrobe items, inadvertently accomplishing their speech goals as well.

A complaint about her experiences with various modes of scammers, both on phone and computer, was the focus of Marilyn Vincent’ s shared writing. The group could, unfortunately, all identify with her experiences.

Rita Davis closed the shared writings with "Finding my Favorite" which detailed her attempts to locate the mysterious person for sending a gorgeous floral bouquet for Mother’s Day with a card that only indicated it was “from your favorite”! (She did manage to track him down after considerable thought and effort!)
