Mt. Pleasant wrestlers crush Chiefs on the mats

KEOKUK ? The Mt. Pleasant wrestling team started their Southeast Conference schedule with a band on Thursday night.

The Panthers blasted the Chiefs, 57-21, in their first SEC action, picking up four pins along the way.

The meet started out with a Garrett Boecker win by forfeit at 182 lbs. Dalton Bass picked up a win by decision at 195 lbs., and Dalton Shull won by forfeit at 220 lbs., to help the Panthers jump to a 15-0 lead.

After an Anthony Carrasco loss at 285 lbs., the Panthers went right back to winning with three victories in a row.

Corbin Broeker and Brayden Ackles won their matches at 106 lbs., and 113 lbs., respectively. Both wrestlers had first period pins. Tyler Raub won by forfeit at 120 lbs., and it was 33-6.

Keokuk won three matches in a row at 126 lbs., 132 lbs., and 138 lbs., to cut the Panther lead to 33-21, but Mt. Pleasant won the next four matches.

Nate Wallace took the 145 lbs., match by forfeit. James DeMeyer and Tyler Davis had pins at 152 lbs., and 160 lbs., respectively and Logan Bass won by forfeit at 170 lbs., to lock up the 36-point victory.
