Mussel program, canoeing set at Oakland Mills Nature Center

The Henry County Conservation Department will host a free mussel program at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Oakland Mills Nature Center.
Jacklyn Gautsch, wetlands and shallow lake monitoring biologist, with the Department of Natural Resources, will give a mussel presentation in the nature center classroom.
After, those who wish to participate are invited on a paddling adventure on the Skunk River, weather permitting.
Preregistration and signed waiver is required by Friday, Aug. 16, for the canoeing portion only and both can be found at www.mycountyparks.com, Henry County, Events.
Participants should bring drinks and lunch if canoeing. Canoes, life jackets, and paddles are provided.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
There is a limit of four canoes with a maximum of three people per canoe.
