The Washington County Extension Office held a ?Mystery of the Missing Bear? Day Camp on June 15 at New Dawn at Sunset Park in Washington and June 16 at Kalona City Park. Both days contained the same fun and excitement. Around 25 second-and third-graders attended the camps.
The campers learned how to use their observation skills by identifying an intruder and practiced making their own fingerprints. The campers used these skills to help them solve the Mystery of the Missing Bear. The campers observed a crime scene, heard the story of what ?happened,? performed investigative tests on the evidence, and then made their predictions as to who had borrowed Mr. Bear. The day wrapped up with the students hearing the ?real? story and discussing what they had found compared to what really happened.
Leader for the camp was Extension Staff Jodi Ebert with help from members of the Washington 4-H County Council and Leadership Development Team.
