The National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Vance Polton of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be speaking about the Lake Darling project.

Spouses and new members are encouraged to attend.

JEFFERSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU WOMEN

The Jefferson County Farm Bureau Women met for a noon luncheon Tuesday a Pizza Ranch.

Ten people were in attendance to answer the roll call question: ?Canada ? Its people, language and sports.?

Shirley Stanley opened the meeting with a reading. A thank-you note was read from Doris Johnson. Programs were handed out with a reminder to sign up for a program and as a hostess for the 2012 year.

A motion was made and seconded to retain present officers for the year. Discussion was held concerning the Women in Ag program usually held in March.

Shirley Stanley presented the program ?My Experiences Working at the State Fair in the Ag Building.? She explained the importance of rotating the displays to keep them fresh in quality and themes. Part of her job was to create floral displays to be positioned around the building. Master Gardeners were responsible for outside displays.

Stanley showed her collection of fair pins. The 2011 pin represented the butter cow.

She has worked there since 1999.

Members were reminded of the next meeting set for Feb. 7 with a Valentine theme.
