Larry Nash, a retired local dentist, will speak about the transition from his profession to his volunteer work on the Fairfield Loop Trail at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18 [corrected from earlier version] in the Fairfield Public Library meeting room.
Nash, who was recently honored by the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce with the Outstanding Citizen Community Service Award for his extensive volunteering spanning several decades, will share the richness of his experiences during the free presentation.
Although Nash is a 50-year Rotarian dedicated to service, upon his retirement from dentistry in 2000 he ?amped up? his volunteerism by serving on the Jefferson County Trails Council, Greater Fairfield Area Habitat for Humanity, and Maasdam Barns as committee chair. Fairfield had been good to him, he said, and he wanted to give back; he certainly has done so.
Nash?s talk will be followed by a slide presentation and comments by John Miller, county coordinator for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, which is known as RSVP.
Miller will summarize the distinctive history and benefits of volunteerism in America and locally.
Refreshments will be provided.
For planning purposes, call 919-4242 or email j.miller@wapellocouw.org to reserve a spot.
