AT THE LIBRARY

Readers, mark your calendars. National Read A Book Day will be here soon.
National Read A Book Day is a fairly new holiday that has been annually observed on Sept. 6 for the past 20 years. To celebrate this holiday, readers around the country dedicate the day to indulging in a book.
Some people also get in the spirit of National Read A Book Day by reading aloud to children or elderly folks, forming a new book club, or donating books to their local libraries. This year, it also happens to fall on Labor Day, which is all the more reason to participate.
The Washington Public Library will be closed Sept. 6 because of Labor Day, so it is time to start thinking ahead. Is there a book you have been dying to read? Or maybe spontaneously browsing for the perfect book is your style?
Carve out some time before the holiday to come to the library to make your selections so you can celebrate with your books of choice. If you would like any help or book recommendations for National Read A Book Day, we would be happy to help you at the front desk or over the phone.
