Nelson named Great River Health System service hero

West Burlington - Heather Nelson, Quality Resources, has been named an EXCEL Service Hero at Great River Health System. The health system recognizes employees who demonstrate actions that extend beyond routine, expected employee behavior.

Criteria for the service hero award are based on the health system's philosophy of care. EXCEL stands for Enthusiastically friendly, exceeding expectations, Caring and compassionate, Energetic teamwork, and Leadership and professionalism.

Heather Nelson received a call from a patient who was recently discharged from the hospital. The woman didn't have the support hose her physician had ordered. Nelson spent quite a bit of time tracking down the correct orders and what had been done. Then Nelson, who is a registered nurse, delivered the hose and helped the woman put them on.

The patient was quite happy with this, and the patient's Great River Home Health case manager said she was 'absolutely blown away by this dedication and level of service.”
