Pictured here are members of the WMS 2017 percussion section with the set of new Pearl Jr. marching drums. Middle School and junior high drumlines have been the victims of hand-me-down drums for years. It?s not that the drums and carriers weren?t good quality, it was that they were great for high school-size students, but many of the middle school students struggled with the larger drums. The Washington Music Boosters and a $750 private donation, made it possible for the Washington Middle School band to purchase four bass drums, a set of quads, three snare drums, a new bell set, plus carriers and cases for everything. The equipment arrived in time for the band to use at the Pella Tulip Time Parade on May 5.
