Independence Day Celebration
New London will host an Independence Day Celebration on July 4 with fun activities at various locations in town.
The day begins with a Holiday Stroll Pancake Breakfast at 7 a.m. in the park, followed by walking tacos by the Stroll committee at 11 a.m., then kids’ games at noon.
The parade at 1 p.m. will honor VFW Post 7641 and Auxiliary’s 75th anniversary. The parade lines up at school and travels to New London Specialty Clinic, then back down Thompson where walkers and bikes will begin, and ending at the school. Prizes will be awarded for the top three parade entries. Entry forms are available at VFW Post 7641.
VFW Post 7641 will host the other afternoon activities, including a 1 p.m. bags tournament, followed by a 2 p.m. coloring contest for children and food available such as maid rites, beans, chips and lemonade or water. The VFW’s bar will be open.
Complimentary hot dogs will be given to all parade participants, and the public is invited to join in for anniversary cake.
