New London softball team blows past Central Lee on road

DONNELLSON ? The New London softball team flew through an SEISC South Division contest on Thursday night, topping Central Lee 12-3 on the road.
The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning. Central Lee scored one in the second but New London got that run back in the third to make it 4-1.
The Tigers pulled away in the with a five-run fifth that made it 9-1 and it was smooth sailing from that point forward.
Layney Loyd went 3-5 with a double and two runs scored in the win. Hayley Krieger was 1-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Camryn Blint was 1-3 with three runs and an RBI. Alexa Wenger was 2-4 with two runs and an RBI. Kara Krieger went 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Chloe Heitmeier finished 1-1 with an RBI.
Sydni Coleman had a good outing in the circle. She pitched all seven innings, giving up just three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk, while striking out four.
New London moved to 9-8 overall and 7-3 in conference play. They will play at Lone Tree tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m.
