New London VFW Auxiliary receives numerous awards

The New London Post 7641 Auxiliary had a successful year in 2020 during which it received numerous awards at a delayed State Convention/POW WOW in Des Moines.

The New London Auxiliary received the following citations:

' Best promotion of veterans and military suicide prevention

' Best promotion of RAP (Random Act of Patriotism)

' Best promotion of the Patriots Pen essay contest

' Healthy Auxiliary Award

' Best promotion of Family Freedom Festival

' Best promotion of Americanism

' National Mentoring for Leadership Award

' National Home Promotion Through Education and Publicity

' Best publicity for Program Goals

' Veterans and Family Support Good Job Award

' National Buddy Poppy

' National Home Award

' Award supporting programs of the VFW Auxiliary

' State mentoring for Leadership Award

President Dianna Klaus was recognized with first place awards in Iowa for mentor/leader role and revitalizing an auxiliary program. She also received second place nationally for mentoring for leadership promotion.

The Auxiliary helps support not only local veterans but also local schools, organizations and community projects.

The New London VFW Post 7641 Auxiliary meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the post home at 802 East McKinley.
