Henry County 4-H, with our neighboring 4-H programs, are offering an all-day Photography Workshop at the Washington County Extension Office March 30 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
The day will be divided into breakout sessions for beginners and advanced youth photographers. The workshop has been set up to follow a 'learn by do” approach which is the 4-H way. Participants will be given some photo assignments and time to go out and shoot those with still life displays and on the fairgrounds. They will have time to practice heat press photo mounting. They will hear from a panel of professionals on how photography is a part of their career. Breakout sessions will cover a variety of topics including: exposure, focus, cropping, friend/foe backgrounds, goal writing, storytelling through photos and presenting images at the county fair. County Fair judges will lead some sessions as well as professional photographers and 4-H volunteers.
Preregistration required with $15 fee. Registration form available at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/henry/ Limited space available. 4-Hers must dress for all weather conditions with shoes safe for outdoor photo assignments. 4-Her's also will need to bring: sack lunch, charged camera, printed 4” x 6” Parents are welcome to be learners on the side only.
Photography is a great 4-H project area for youth interested in art and they can capture pictures of all topics of interest!
