New Years celebrations abound

Joey and Alice Hochstetler spent the New Years weekend with family in Indiana. They stayed with their son, J.B. and Carla Hochstetler; Noah, Greta and Mussie in Syracuse and also visited with Tim and Kim Hochstetler, Alena, Bennett and Corina in Goshen and Matt and Ilona Roberts in Milton.
The family of Joann Love celebrated Christmas at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Saturday, Jan. 5. They enjoyed soups, sandwiches, vegetables and cookies for dessert.
The kids enjoyed opening presents and the adults enjoyed a gift exchange and stealing presents from each other. The adults' exchange theme this year was 'food.”
Those in attendance were Joann Love, of Washington; David Love, Galesburg, from Illinois; Larry and Nancy Love, Sonya Love-Smith and Audrey, of Crawfordsville; Maggie Smith and Tyler Robertson, of Cedar Falls; Wesley, Kaitlyn, Lawson and Isaac Love and Betsy and Preston Lasek, all of Ainsworth; Sharon and Jeff Ryder from Bettendorf; Cheryl, Tyler and Ryder Byrnes of North Liberty; Matt Ryder and Kristin Knudson of Chicago; Loren, Carson and Campbell Love, of Johnston; Riley Love, of Iowa City, and Ruth Johnston, of Ainsworth.
The group also celebrated the birthdays of Maggie and Larry on Jan. 5.
The Crawfordsville Fire Department will hold a soup supper Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Fire Station from 4-7 p.m. Chili and cheesy potato will be offered as a freewill offering.
Word has been received of the death of Richard McNeill of Perry on Oct. 31 at the age of 82. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School and was the son of the late John and Helen Stewart McNeill. His family operated the Standard Station in Crawfordsville for many years.
