The United Church Women met on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at 2 p.m., at the United Church of Crawfordsville, with 12 ladies present.

The United Church Women met on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at 2 p.m., at the United Church of Crawfordsville, with 12 ladies present.
Wilma McAllister gave the meditation "Quilts From Heaven". She spend time emphasizing how each block is different in a quilt, and comparing it to the difference in all of us, but how God has made everything beautiful in His time. She also had a reading entitled, "Recipes for a Happy New Year."
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and everyone read the Opening Creed together.
Secretary Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the Dec. 8 meeting and they were approved as read. The treaurer's report was given by Treasurer Pat Miller and will be filed for audit.
Thank you notes were read from several charitable organizations.
The kitchen renovations are beginning to be completed with painting and electrical work to be completed soon.
McAllister reported the Dorcas group had cancelled the Jan. 11 sewing day due to icy conditions. Many quilts had been delivered during 2015, and various other projects were completed. The usual cards had also been sent out.
The Call to Prayer and Self Denial program was given by Clarissa Malmberg. The Prayer of the Least Coin was recited and the least coin and regular offering taken.
The next regular meeting is set for Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at 2 p.m., with meditation and hostess being Frieda Finke.
Dorcas group will meet on Monday, Jan. 25, and Feb. 8.
Work Committees are as follows: January - Pat Miller and Ruth Erwin; February - Deb Lowe and Ann Lewis.
Following a motion to adjourn, members read the Closing Creed together.
Lowe closed with a scripture reading from John 15:11.
In other news, Julia Bletscher has recently moved from Iowa to Kansas. Her new address is: Julia Bletscher, Beninga Acres, Apt. D, Leonardville, KS 66449. Bletscher moved back to Leonardville as this is the town she and her late husband had a business in for many years.
