The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, May 22, 2017 at 7 p.m., with 10 members present at the Crawfordsville Community Room following the service project of replacing the outhouse roof at the ball park.
Lion President Billie Jo Rose called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Secretary Nancy Love gave the invocation. Following refreshments served by Lion Loree Stogdill, the meeting proceeded.
The minutes of the May 8, 2017 meeting were approved as read. Lion Treasurer Randy Finke gave the financial report.
Old Business: Lion Nancy reported that she had presented Roman Kiefer with the Crawfordsville Lions Club WACO Scholarship of $500 at awards night on May 9, 2017, at WACO High School. He will be attending Iowa State University.
Members were reminded of the Blood Drive scheduled for June 5, 2017, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
New Business: The next meeting will be June 12, 2017, at the ball park.
Tail Twister Lion Larry Fletcher entertained the group with some trivia. The meeting adjourned.
Nine members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club and two guests met at the L.E.T.'s Center for the Healing and Creative Arts building in Washington, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 2 p.m.
Lynne Loula welcomed the club to the center, and guest speaker Lorraine Williams gave a presentation about the L.E.T.'s Center for the Healing and Creative Arts, explaining its origin, mission and various classes and projects available and about fundraisers.
A brief business meeting was held including the flag salute, recitation of the club collect, book briefs and minutes of the April meeting and the treasurer's report. Book lists for 2016-17 were handed in.
The next meeting will be " A Visit to the Garden" on June 21, 2017.
Refreshments were served by Ruth Erwin, who also organized the program.
Crawfordsville Fun Days will be held June 30 and July 1, 2017. The event will kick-off with an outdoor family movie at the fire station at 9 p.m., on Friday, June 30.
On Saturday, July 1, 2017, the day will begin with a breakfast at the fire station hosted by the Crawfordsville Fire Department from 6 to 9 a.m., with various games and activities for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
All events are being sponsored jointly by the Crawfordsville Community Club and the Crawfordsville Lions Club.
